Sports Leaders September 2013
Three quarters of the 2013 sporting year have gone by and the USA have what appears yet again an unassailable position at the top of the Global Cup ranking.
The mighty Stars and Stripes and their athletes are once again on course for becoming the top nation in sports, trailed in the Global Cup table by Russia and Germany, with France in its highest-ever slot in fourth place. Thanks to overall victory in the September monthly ranking, on the back of the French men Eurobasketball triumph and a brilliant overall showing at the Judo World Championships, where they came a pretty close second to eternal winners Japan.
So it’s not just about the USA. We’ve taken a look at some of the sports with major competitions across the summer, and we’ve tracked their respective rankings in the tables below.

The combined ranking of all cycling sports (Road, Track, MTB, BMX, Cyclocross) is led by Australia, despite bowing to surprising Germany in the Track Cycling Worlds in February, while Italy narrowly leads Spain in the Road table.
