June Athlete of the Month: Graeme McDowell
The Portrush-born Northern Irishman earned Great Britain 50 points with his victory in the US Golf Open at Pebble Beach (California).
He deservedly wins GSN’s Athlete of the Month award for the biggest single points contribution to his country’s score in June, which keeps Great Britain steadily progressing up the Global Cup ranking.
Now in 11th place, GB stands three places behind their position at the same time last year, when excellent results in the Rugby Sevens World Cup made a crucial difference to their result.
Still, with so much sport still on this year, the chase is on for a place in the top ten and better.
