USA wins month of June, ahead of China, Australia

Maggie Steffens of the USA at the 2018 Water Polo World League Finals

The USA topped the June monthly table in the Global Cup, the ranking of the world’s best sporting nations, with an extensive margin over China and Australia.

The year-to-date Global Cup leader bagged the majority of its points in Golf - with victory at the US Open Championships - Tennis and Water Polo, in which the Stars & Stripes ladies won the World League.

Second-placed China earned 92% of its monthly points at the Diving World Championships, which it won in some style.

Australia, in third place, won over half of its points in Rugby Sevens, with its women’s team taking gold medal in the World Series and the men coming fourth.
