USA best in October ahead of Russia, Japan
The USA won the month of October 2018 in the Global Cup, the ranking of the world’s top sporting nations. It was the second victory in succession for the USA after September, and one which virtually seals final victory once again of the 10-time Global Cup champion: France, currently second in the year-to-date ranking, only scored 23 points to the USA’s 352 in October. Russia came second in the monthly ranking, followed by Japan.
In October, the USA won the Free Wrestling World Championships ahead of Japan and Russia, and scored valuable points in the Volleyball Women World Championships and the WTA Tennis Finals. Russia won the Greco-Roman Wrestling World Championships ahead of Hungary and Turkey, while Japan, besides coming second in the Free Wrestling World Championships, also acquitted itself well at the Volleyball Women World Championships.
