GSN focuses on the sport’s major international competitions:
  • The FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup, organized annually by the International Skiing Federation (FIS), a season-long competition with weekly events all over the Alps, North America and Asia. Athletes compete for the overall World Cup title at the end of the season and for the speciality World Cups in Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G, Downhill, Combined Event (Slalom plus Downhill, in two consecutive days) and Super Combined (a short downhill and one slalom run on the same day, featured in the FIS World Cup since 2005).
  • The FIS World Alpine Skiing Championships, contested every two years in all the FIS disciplines, with single-event races awarding the world titles.
  • The Alpine Skiing events in the Winter Olympic Games, held every four years.
