China land treble Basketball victory

The Asian Men Basketball Championships 2011 has produced a treble winner.
China, host nation in Wuhan, has taken the title with a last-second basket over tenacious underdogs Jordan, the final score 70-69.
Beside the victory, the Chinese will toast a Continental double, having already won the Ladies 2011 title, and, last but not least, they will claim the 2011 Basketball Global Cup victory.

Two tournaments are still under way, the Africa Ladies and the Americas Ladies, but no country winning either title will be able to match China’s 200 Global Cup points.
In a year in which 32 nations, from China to Samoa, scored GSN points, the current standings (not yet reflected in the Basketball home page) are as follows:
China: 200 points
France: 180 points
Spain: 150 pts
South Korea: 140 pts
Russia: 130 pts
The only African nation with a chance was Tunisia, currently at 150 pts after taking the Men’s 2011 title. But they’re out of the last four in Afrobasket 2011, where Angola and Senegal will fight for the Continental crown. As this is worth 50 pts, all Angola, currently with 120, can hope is to fly past Spain into third place, a truly outstanding achievement for a country that’s currently 54th in the overall Global Cup ranking.
