GSN and Ski Mountaineering

A Ski Mountaineering race (often called randonnée, from the French meaning trek) is a timed event that follows an established trail through challenging winter alpine terrain while passing through a series of checkpoints.

 

As Ski Mountaineering is not yet an Olympic sport, the GSN rankings include only one tournament, the biennial S. M. World Championships, which will be next held in 2010. They feature a number of events: individual and relay races, a team race, a “vertical” race and a long distance race (the latter for men only).
