Among the top 20 nations there are quite a few who’ve made big leaps up the table compared to 2008, and only one (Brazil, - 8 positions) who’s dropped considerably. Here’s the ranking by number of positions gained (among the top 20):
  1. Austria + 8 (14th place)
  2. Norway + 6 (17th place)
  3. Canada + 5 (7th place)
  4. Ethiopia + 5 (15th place)
  5. Switzerland + 5 (16th place)
  6. Poland + 5 (19th place)
  7. France + 3 (5th place)
  8. South Korea + 2 (13th place)
  9. Germany + 1 (3rd place)
  10. Japan + 1 (12th place)

Consistency
Which countries, among the Top 10 overall, are also top 10 in both the Men and Ladies Global Cup?
-          USA (first in both Men and Ladies)
-          Russia (second in both Men and Ladies)
-          Germany (4rd and 3rd)
-          China, barely (10th in the Men, 4th in the Ladies)
-          Great Britain (5th and 5th)
-          France (3rd and 6th)
-          Italy (7th and 7th)
-          Canada (6th and 8th)
The consistency of 8 out of the first 10 nations goes a long way towards explaining their overall results.
The only 2 top 10 nations that do not make the top 10 in both genders are Spain (9th and 13th) and Australia (11th and 9th), who nevertheless are very close to the top.
